Roma striker, Sadiq Umar has revealed why he ended his loan spell at Rangers, saying it was a joint decision between him and Roma. And that he wasn’t dismissed as the media claimed earlier.
Speaking to OwnGoalNigeria, he explained that Rangers didn’t end the loan deal, on the contrary, he made the decision himself.
” It was a decision between myself and Roma. We informed Rangers about it and they accepted. So simply put collectively myself and Roma decided to end the loan and not Rangers. They never asked me to leave, not at any time”, Sadiq told Owngoalnigeria.
Sadiq also talked about his relationship with Rangers coach, Steven Gerrard, and how his time at the club has affected him.
” Gerrard is a good coach no doubt and my relationship with him is very normal. We didn’t talk that much on where I need to improve in my game during my time there. Something which is different from the other coaches I’ve worked with. I hear about myself more from his interviews than him speaking with me directly.
”It was a very steep learning curve for me and it did have an effect on my confidence level. The pressure to do well when I get the chance to play affected me negatively. It’s unfortunate that I couldn’t show the fans what am all about “, Sadiq added.
