Ex-international, Austine Fregene has advised the technical crew of the Super Eagles led by Gernot Rohr to prosecute the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles and Libya with all sign of seriousness.
Fregene stated that the disappointment of not qualifying to the knockout stages of the World Cup shouldn’t affect the players’ confidence but inspire them to pick the maximum points.
It will be recalled that the Super Eagles lost their opening round against South Africa 2-0 to sit third on the log.
He told Soccernet.ng that the team must dismantle Seychelles in order to instil that fear factor again.
“It is so sad that the Super Eagles no longer dominate football in Africa like the old days. Anyway, we are glad with their performance at the World Cup, but then, the Africa Cup of Nations remains a good chance for the team to make a big statement.
“However, in doing that the team must not take Seychelles and Libya for granted because they may want to serve as a spoiler for us.
“Our players must be clinical in front of goal and ensure they avoid the sort of errors that cost them against South Africa in their 2-0 lose.”
