We must put an end to NFF crisis – Dosu

Ex-international, Dosu Joseph has advised the football body in Nigeria to avoid crisis that could attract any form of FIFA ban.

It would be recalled that on Monday, Nigeria narrowly escaped FIFA ban after agreeing to recognised Amaju Pinnick as the President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Football’s world governing body had said that it could suspend the country on Monday should Amaju Pinnick be displaced.

Pinnick, who was elected head of Nigeria Football Federation in 2014, was in a stand-off with Chris Giwa, who had appealed the result and won a favourable court ruling in June.

However, the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist told Soccernet.ng that Nigeria must make the right move to help save the nation’s football from further FIFA threat.

“I am so delighted that we did the right thing to avoid FIFA ban considering the fact that their decision would have affected Nigeria’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles on September 7,” Dosu told Soccernet.ng.

“The growth of our football must be considered first and not the other way round. It is high time we solve this issue of leadership crisis in the country in order for our football to move forward.

“Now that Amaju Pinnick has been recognised as the authentic President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF),  we don’t want this crisis to bring out its ugly head again.”
