Giwa vs Pinnick: Court adjourns case

Jos Federal High Court has adjourned the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) leadership case between Amaju Pinnick and Chris Giwa till September 25, 2018.

The Court had on June 5th 2018 nullified Pinnick’s 2014 election, ordering Giwa to take the office as president of the football body. In response, Pinnick, through his Lawyer, Festus Keyamo filed a motion challenging the court’s order.

However, the court refused to grant their request, as the presiding Judge, Justice Musa Kurya has asked Pinnick’s lawyer to properly file his motions before the court and serve the motion of notice to all parties involved in the case to enable them to respond.

The power tussle between Pinnick and Giwa has been turning heads at all levels, as FIFA warned the NFF of a possible ban if Pinnick is removed as president of the federation. While one of NFF’s biggest sponsors, AITEO Group threatened to withdraw its support for the federation if the ongoing crisis is not resolved.

While weighing in on the matter, ex-international Moses Kpakor said there’s no point in all the drama for the fact that the next NFF election isn’t too far away.

“I see no reason why Pinnick should be sacked from his position when we know that the NFF Election will come up very soon (August) I believe,” Kpakor told Soccernet.com.ng.
