Ronaldo unveiled at Juventus

The first words of Juventus’ new signing, Cristiano Ronaldo, during Monday’s press conference at Allianz Stadium

“It was an easy decision to join Juventus. They’re the greatest club in Italy and one of the best in the world. They have a top coach and president, who are used to winning things.

“It’s no coincidence that they have won the last seven Scudetto titles in a row. I feel honoured that Juve thought of me and I now want to take the club to an even higher level. I want to make my mark in the history of Juventus.”

“I’m here because it’s a brand new challenge for me. Coming to such a big club at this stage in my career makes me very happy and I thank Juventus for giving me this opportunity.

“I’m an ambitious player. I don’t like to stay in my comfort zone or to sit down and look back at past achievements. I’m looking forwards and I’m very concentrated and focused. I’m going to work hard in my training and prove that I’m a top player again.”

“Receiving that standing ovation (after the bicycle kick against Juventus in the Champions League) was really a stunning moment for me. It’s so rewarding and it gives me extra motivation to make the fans happy as I start this new adventure.”

“I know that the Champions League is a trophy that every club would like to win and Juventus is no different and they’ve come extremely close in recent seasons. It’s a difficult competition to win, but I will be doing my best to help this team be successful. I hope that I can be the lucky star for the club.”

“The Ballon d’Or is not something that I’m thinking about right now. Of course, I want to win and be the best. Who knows, maybe I’ll be rewarded again if things go well. I just want the future to take its natural course and I’m confident that the future is bright.”

“I had an excellent conversation with president Agnelli before joining and today I’ve had an opportunity to meet my new team-mates and (Massimiliano) Allegri as well.

“I’m going to start training on 30 July and I would like to play my first match when the Serie A season begins. I can’t wait to get started, I’m really motivated to show that I’m still a top player and we’ll all be fighting for every trophy going.”

During the press conference, Juventus’ Sporting Director, Fabio Paratici, had this to say about Ronaldo’s arrival at the club:

“On behalf of the management team, I would like to say a big thank you. I have received so many messages from our players, who are very excited about Cristiano joining us. Everyone is in high spirits and I believe that this represents a significant step towards raising our standard even further.”
