Leicester are set to open contract negotiations with Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi in order to reflect his newfound global status and ward off suitors.
The Nigeria midfielder enjoyed a positive World Cup and a boost to his £35,000 per week wages is on the cards, according to Daily Mail.
Arsenal have maintained an eye on Ndidi having been in the running for his signature before a £15m transfer from Genk to Leicester in January 2017, but the 21-year-old insists he is not thinking of moving. ‘A transfer has never been on my mind,’ said Ndidi. ‘I feel very good at Leicester.’
Genk on December 3, 2016, agreed a £17 million transfer deal with then English champions Leicester City to land the Nigerian at the King Power Stadium. The deal was confirmed on January 5 2017.
Ndidi made his debut for the club on January 7, 2017, in a 2–1 win against Everton in the third round of the FA Cup. He made his first Premier League start on January 14, 2017, against Chelsea at home in a 3–0 defeat.
