Super Eagles captain and midfielder, John Obi Mikel has revealed that losing against England was a lesson to be learnt by the team and that the team would improve before Nigeria’s opening game against Croatia on June 16.
The team were narrowly beaten 2-1 by the Three Lions of England at Wembley in an international friendly game on Saturday in preparation for the World Cup in Russia.
However, the former Chelsea star told Daily mail that the defeat against England would only make the team better before their first game against Croatia.
“We are a very young team and we have to learn, it is good for this young team to have a taste of what we are going to face in Russia,” Mikel said.
“We have to learn together as a team, we have to improve and that is why we played this game against such a quality side.
“We can know where we are and now we go back to training and try and improve.
