Appiah tips Nigeria, Senegal for glory in Russia

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah believes the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Teranga Lions of Senegal are the two countries that carry the hope of Africa at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Nigeria are in group D and will face Croatia, Argentina and Iceland; while, Senegal will be up against Colombia, Japan and Poland.

As the tournament begins today in Russia, Appiah noted that the calibres of young and experienced players in Nigeria and Senegal could propel them to glory.

“Most of the African countries at the World Cup have got very young squads. And I believe they can surprise many at the tournament,” he said.

“Nigeria and Senegal are doing well with young players who want to achieve something,” he added.

“They only need the right mentality for the tournament and they can cause a surprise.”
