Messi, Aguero, Higuain lead Argentina’s 23-Man squad against Nigeria

Argentina manager, Jorge Sampaoli has named a deadly 23-man squad led by Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero and Juventus’ Gonzalo Higuain for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The Albeceleste are pitted alongside Nigeria, Croatia and Iceland in a group of they have been tagged favourites to qualify from with ease.

Argentina have come out on the wrong side of three major finals beginning with the 2014 World Cup and ending with back-to-back defeats by Chile in two versions of Copa America.

ARGENTINA 23-MAN SQUAD

Goalkeepers: Sergio Romero, Willy Caballero, Franco Armani.

Defenders: Gabriel Mercado, Cristian Ansaldi, Nicolas Otamendi, Federico Fazio, Marcos Rojo, Tagliafico, Javier Mascherano, Marcos Acuna, Eduardo Salvio.

Midfielders: Lucas Biglia, Ever Banega, Lo Celso, Manuel Lanzini, Angel Di Maria, Max Meza.

Forwards: Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala, Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain, Cristian Pavon.
