Ex-international, Henry Nwosu believes Super Eagles midfield appears to be weak without Mikel Obi in the team.
Nwosu made this assertion after the team’s international friendly matches against Poland and Serbia, which saw Nigeria win one and lost one.
It was an encounter that exposed the weakness of the team as they struggled in the midfield in the absence of Mikel.
It’s in this view that the 1980 African Cup of Nations winning player told Soccernet.com.ng that the Super Eagles Technical Crew must ensure they keep Mikel fit for the World Cup if the team must perform well.
“Mikel Obi remains a key component of the Super Eagles and it was so obvious when the team managed to win 1-0 against Poland before losing 2-0 against Serbia in the international friendly played in March,” Nwosu told Soccernet.com.ng.
“Our midfield was not organized, lack creativity and a leader that would make things happen.
“The technical crew have tried the combination of Ogenyi Onazi, Wilfred Ndidi and Joel Obi but failed to yield a positive result. Perhaps maybe they should start looking for another creative player should anything happen at the World Cup.”
