I can’t wait to play at the World Cup – Troost-Ekong

By Augustine Akhilomen

Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong has disclosed that he’s delighted to have won a bronze medal at the Rio Olympic Games but that playing at the 2018 World Cup would surpass that feat.

Troost-Ekong who has become an integral part of the Senior national team was in action as Nigeria defeated Poland 1-0 in last week Friday friendly match and this week when they lost 2-0 to Serbia as part of the preparation for the World Cup.

‘Winning the bronze and qualifying for the World Cup have both been massive moments for me but I’m hoping to outdo both of those this summer at the World Cup,’ said 24-year-old Trost-Ekong.

Troost-Ekong is the latest footballer to commit one percent of his earnings to Common Goal, an initiative by Manchester United midfielder, Juan Mata, stated that he’s committed to driving the course of the needy children.

‘I’m aware that I’m a role model for children and football fans and, having travelled the world, I’ve seen the impact that we have on people’s lives. It’s our responsibility as players to use that in a positive way.’

“Proudly been wearing jerseys of Bursaspor and Naija this season, and now I’m also putting on
@CommonGoalOrg! Very happy to join the team and excited to see how we can help others together.”
