France name squad for Nigeria friendly

France have named a strong contingent for their international friendly with Nigeria next month.

The French women’s senior national team will host their Nigerian counterparts in an international friendly match on April 6, and coach Corinne Diacre has invited 23 players to the squad for the game.

The list published on the French Football Federation website on Wednesday includes the team’s top scorer in the just concluded SheBelieves Cup in the United States of America Eugenie Le Sommer and skipper Wendie Renard who missed the SheBelieves Cup due to an injury.

Julie Debever who was in France’s Senior B team that clinched the 2018 Alanya Cup last month is also included in Diacre’s squad.

France will report to camp on Monday ahead of the friendly.

France will face Nigeria at the Le Mans Arena in Paris on Friday, 6 April before heading to Rennes for another friendly game against Canada on Monday, 9 April.

France who are currently fifth in latest FIFA ranking will be using the friendly to prepare for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which they have qualified automatically for as hosts.
