Nigeria fail to qualify for FIFA U-17 Cup

Nigeria’s women U-17 team, the Flamingos has failed to book their ticket for the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after playing 1-1 (3-3) on aggregate against the Baby Lionesses of Cameroon in the last qualifying game at the Ahmaduo Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon on Sunday.

Alice Kameni put the host in front 16 minutes into the game, Nigeria later got into the match by scoring the much anticipated equalizer. The goal was not enough as the Coach Bala Nikyu tutored side could not turn the tide against their more determined Cameroonian side in the epic clash.

Nigeria played out a 2-2 draw during the first leg meeting a fortnight ago at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City. The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup holds from 13 November to 1 December 2018 in Uruguay.
