Barcelona are reportedly considering asking for a change in the date of their Copa del Rey final against Sevilla due to fixture congestion fears.
The Cup final has been scheduled by the Spanish FA (RFEF) for April 21, with the semi-finals of the Champions League set to be played between 23-24 April.
Both clubs are still involved in Europe’s premier club competition with Diario Sport reporting the Catalan club are concerned the final may be played too close to a possible last-four date.
It could be a busy week for the Blaugrana, who are due to face La Liga fixtures with Valencia (April 15) and Celta Vigo (April 18) in the build-up to the final.
They are said to have become aware of a potentially decisive ten-day period within their season and wish to avoid such complications, according to Football-Espana.
Provisionally, the 21 April date will also mean the club’s league clash with Villarreal now must need moved and is expected to be played three days before their El Clasico clash with Real Madrid.
