Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has lauded the performance of the Home Based Super Eagles after the team’s 2-1 win against Angola in Sunday’s semi-final of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.
The team was almost on the verge of elimination after Angola scored in the first half before Anthony Okpotu netted the equalizing goal in the 92nd minutes before Gabriel Okechukwu scored the winning goal in the second half of extra time.
However, Rohr who was part of the coaching crew at the tournament said the team spirit was behind their qualification to the semi-final stages.
“I am very glad that the team never gave up despite going one goal down against Angola before coming back to win the encounter.
“This also goes to show the level of team spirit that is found in the Super Eagles A team and I am delighted that we are through to the semi-final.
” Besides, it shows the level of continuity and consistency considering the fact that we have the same set of coaching crew in the team.
