Iheanacho scores brace in Leicester’s 5-1 win

Leicester City defeats Peterborough United 5-1 as Kelechi Iheanacho has scored a back-to-back brace as his fellow Nigerian Wilfred Ndidi on target in the Emirate FA Cup win at ABAX Stadium on Saturday early kick-off.

Fousseni Diabate opens the floodgate on his Foxes debut before Iheanacho score twice and Peterborough pull one back, that’s the first goal the Foxes have conceded in 2018, new signing gets his second of the tie as substitute Ndidi complete the rout with Premier League outfit move to the next round of the competitions.

First chance for Premier League outfit as Iheanacho and Diabate combine well before the latter flashes a long-range driveway over the crossbar and a few minutes later Silva plays him in on the near side, Diabate wriggles away from his defender and stabs a neat finish into the far corner with his right foot to make 1-0 for the Foxes.

An error from Peterborough midfielder Chris Forrester is seized upon by Iheanacho who drives towards the area before firing a low shot into the bottom corner from 20 yards to make 2-0 in the 12 minutes of play as Nigeria striker has now scored nine goals from the same number matches in FA Cup appearances.

The home side Maddison has a crack from the resulting free-kick but can’t get a decent effort on target. Leicester are rampant as Super Eagles star score his second of the game, Fuchs curls a beauty of a cross from the left, picks out Iheanacho in between two central defenders and the striker buries the volley with the Foxes are three goals up before half-an-hour.

Iheanacho turns 25 yards out and drills a thumping drive just over as he wants that first-half hat-trick. Huge chance for Peterborough with Maddison floats a cross over the Leicester backline as Lloyd went on with a diving header at the back post but the striker failed to convert the opportunity he puts it wide In the process, he collides with the upright and requires treatment.

Gray runs from left to right, across and into the penalty area, but is a bit off balance as he strikes his shot, which flies high.

Peterborough pulls one back the right-wing corner is nodded down by Taylor for Hughes to sweep a scrappy goal through a host of bodies and into the net to make 3-1 early the second half.

Fuchs delivers another delicious ball into the middle but Iheanacho can’t connect after making a superb run towards the near post.

Diabate does brilliantly on the edge of the box and shifts the ball into space to fire a low shot towards the far corner that Peterborough keeper Bond manages to claw to safety.

Gray still keen to cap a good display with a goal as he motors through the gears from a central area but sees his low drive smothered by Bond. Albrighton cuts past his man and flashes in a 25-yard drive that flies inches over the bar.

Leicester attacks kept coming and Diabate crowned an excellent showing by firing into the roof of the net three minutes from time after Bond saved from Demarai Gray.

Ndidi finished in similar fashion two minutes into stoppage time to complete the rout.
