Ex international, Ike Shorunmu has expressed delight with the invitation of Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho as he said it would create a healthy competition with other goalkeepers in the Super Eagles.
Uzoho on Tuesday joined the rest of the team in Rabat, Morocco ahead of Friday’s dead-rubber 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Algiers.
With the likes of Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Dele Alampasu and Daniel Akpeyi battling for the number glove, Shorunmu told Kickintel.com that Uzoho’s arrival would give Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr some level of options in the goalkeeping department.
“I am glad with the invitation of Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho to the Super Eagles fold for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria.
” I believe it will create some level of healthy competitions in the goalkeeping department and who says he’s not a good goalkeeper.
“However, he must have to prove himself first before thinking of being part of the team for the World Cup.”
