Ambrose targets Super Eagles World Cup spot

By Augustine Akhilomen

Forgotten Super Eagles defender, Efe Ambrose has revealed that he’s hoping to play his best out at Hibernia in order to win the heart of team’s manager, Gernot Rohr ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

Ambrose, who was part of late Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi’s team that crashed out in the round of 16 of the 2014 World Cup after losing 2-0 to France, has had 51 caps for the senior national team since making his debut.

He told Edinburgh News on Thursday that injury slow down his game but he’s willing and ready to win a place in the Super Eagles squad for the World Cup in Russia.

“I was ruled out of active football for eight months and staging a comeback with the Super Eagles was the least on my mind,”Ambrose told Edinburgh News.

“Life was difficult in that time not playing football. I had offers from other UK clubs but I was waiting for the right one to come. It was that bad I could not get a work permit to join Blackburn when the offer came.
