The real reason why Barcelona pulled the plug on getting Phillipe Coutinho from Liverpool has been revealed.
The Catalan giants made frantic efforts to sign the Brazillian playmaker; making multiple bids for him but at the end, no deal was reached.
Many had expected a deadline day move for Coutinho but that never happened and the Barcelona hierarchy have revealed why.
Albert Soler – the director of professional sports at Barcelona- has claimed that Liverpool demanded (€200m ) £185m for their midfielder.
Soler told reporters: “Liverpool wanted €200m for Coutinho. The club decided not to continue with the operation. We will not put Barça at risk.”
Barcelona received close to £200m from Paris Saint-Germain for Neymar, with £96.8m of that figure being spent on signing Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund.
Earlier this year, Coutinho signed a new five-year contract at Anfield and that made his planned forced exit more cumbersome.

According to Liverpool this is a tissue of lies and there were never any negotiations between the two clubs just a series of unwanted bids which were all immediately rejected.
And you believe this shit?
Soler is a liar - Liverpool were never going to sell Coutinho to Barca this season. Selling Coutinho would have resulted in a fan revolution at Anfield... and the end of FSG.
Every beginning has an end and this Barca board are fast tracking the end!
