Super Eagles are three points away from qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup after beating the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 4-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Friday.
It was a perfect gift for Nigerians and Muslims celebrating Sallah today as Odion Ighalo opened the floodgate of goals before Mikel Obi increased Nigeria’s tally to end the half time on the ascendency.
However, at the resumption of the second half, Victor Moses extended the lead to three goals before substitute Kelechi Iheanacho took the game beyond the reach of the Cameroonian as he scored the fourth goal.
The victory means the Super Eagles remain top of Group B with 9 points with three games left to play. A win or a draw in the reverse fixture on Monday against Cameroon will all but seal the team’s qualification to the World Cup.
