Moses to miss Premier League opener

Victor Moses is suspended for Chelsea’s opening Premier League match of the new season at home against Burnley because of his red card at last season’s FA Cup final.

The Nigerian international was sent off as the Blues were beaten in the final of the FA Cup by Arsenal in May, and the suspension will kick in for when they host Burnley on Saturday, August 12, at Stamford Bridge.

However, the Nigeria star will feature for Chelsea in Sunday’s FA Community Shield game against the same Arsenal.

Pre-season training has shown that Victor Moses will likely play at both left and right wing-back positions in the new season.

Last term, he flourished at an unfamiliar right wing-back position and he was subsequently rewarded with a new contract by ‘The Blues’.
