After a long wait to receive Neymar’s transfer fee of €222m, Barcelona have now released the player’s international transfer certificate, paving way for the Brazilian to make his Paris Sain-Germain debut.
According to Marca, the money has now been paid into the Camp Nou accounts, so the certificate – which makes sure a player cannot be registered with two clubs at once – has been released and he could now make his debut in French football in Sunday’s match away at Guingamp, having been unable to playagainst Amiens last week.
“Now that Barcelona have received and cashed the cheque, the transfer is being processed,” a source at the Catalan club confirmed to AFP.
The French FA had asked their Spanish counterparts to send the document last week, but the Spanish FA were waiting on the green light from Barcelona and have now confirmed this Friday that it will be sent”with immediate effect”.
