Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dropped one place in the latest FIFA rankings as the team is ranked 39th in the world and six in Africa which was published on Thursday.
The slight fall in the July ranking could be as a result of the team’s 2-0 loss against Bafana of South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Cup at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on June 10.
The Super Eagles pulled 730 points to maintain their spot of 39 in the global standings, and 6th in Africa only behind Egypt who are number one in Africa, while Senegal and Cameroon occupy the 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
Germany reclaimed the top on the FIFA ranking for the first time since being knocked off the top spot exactly two years ago.
Following their 1 – 0 win over Chile (7 th, down 3 ) in Saint Petersburg, the newly crowned FIFA Confederations Cup champions have narrowly overtaken Brazil (2 nd , down 1 ) and leapfrogged Argentina (3 rd , down 1 ).
