FIFA Ranking: Super Eagles Still Need More Work – Dosu

By Augustine Akhilomen

Ex international, Dosu Joseph says the latest FIFA rankings which placed the Super Eagles 39th in the world and sixth in Africa is an indication that more work has to be done by the team’s manager, Gernot Rohr.

On Thursday, FIFA released the July World rankings on his official website which saw Nigeria dropped from 38t to 39th after gathering 730 points.

It will be recall that the team lost 2-0 against Bafana of South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last month to put a slight dent on their qualification campaign.

However, the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist in the men’s football event, told Soccernet.com.ng that Rohr’s technical crew must get down to serious business in order to improve their ranking.

“It’s sad that the Super Eagles have dropped one place to 39th in the latest FIFA Rankings for the month of July. However, I believe the fall could be as a result of Nigeria’s 2-0 lose against South Africa in a 2019 AFCON qualifier,” Soccernet.com.ng.

“What this called for is hardwork and total seriousness from the part of the players because it’s high time we maintain strong progress in the FIFA Ranking.

“Gernot Rohr and his team of technical crew must ensure they get the best out of the invited players for any games.”
