Mikel nears full recovery

Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel is making real progress in his bid to return to full fitness as he continues to recover from the ankle injury that forced him to go under the knife.

The 30-year old has been out of action for about a month now and still has a few weeks to go before he returns to full fitness. He posted a video of himself kicking a ball with the caption: “Injuries take patience, but progress is so rewarding ⚽️”

The injury means he has been out of action for his Chinese club Tianjin Teda and was also left out of the Nigeria squad for their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa next week in Uyo.

Mikel’s last game for Nigeria was in the 3-1 2018 World Cup qualifier win against the Desert Foxes of Algeria.
