Messi agrees new Barcelona deal with €400M buyout clause

Lionel Messi has verbally agreed to a new contract with Barcelona, it is being reported in Spain.

With his father and agent Jorge Messi in the country, talks have accelerated.

El Larguero says agreement over a new contract is now “fully agreed and closed”.

Messi’s current deal runs to 2018 and the new arrangement will take him to 2021. It will be worth €30 million-a-year – net.

The contract will also see the Argentine’s buyout clause be raised from €250 million to €400 million.
