Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has drawn up his Wishlist of the players he wants this summer according to reports in Spain.
The former Athletic Bilbao coach and the Barcelona board want to strengthen the squad ahead of the next season campaign as they want to battle Real Madrid for the lost dominance in Spain and Europe.
Real Madrid won the La Liga and the Champions League while Barcelona won the Copa Dey Rey last season.
Barcelona finished three points behind their fierce rival, Real Madrid in the Spanish top flight and was completely outclassed by Juventus in the Champions League quarter-finals
This has prompted Barcelona to react and get the necessary additions of players to challenge for the coming season and stamp their dominance once again and new players are expected to join the Catalan giants in the coming months as part of the new regime under the new coach.
Spanish publication Diario Gol claim Valverde’s first choice summer signing would be 20-year-old Borussia Dortmund winger Ousmane Dembele.
Dembele has been outstanding for Borussia Dortmund, the winger scored six goals and provided 12 assists in the German top flight and he was also superb for his country France, against England in an international friendly.
Although Diario Gol’s report adds Dortmund will be unlikely to let Dembele leave this summer which could leave Barca scrambling for alternative options.
Apparently, Valverde has already drawn up four othercandidates should he not get his first choice.
Former Barca player, Gerard Deulofeu is one of his preferred players to join Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez in the attack.
But the Spaniard is keen to play for a club that allows him maximum minutes in a world cup year which could rule him out of a move to a side with entrenched starters across the attacking line.
After Deulofeu, Valverde is eyeing Bayern Munich’s Douglas Costa, Leicester’s want-away winger Riyad Mahrez and Sevilla ace Vitolo.
