Barcelona’s €50 million target set to join Juventus

Barcelona is set to lose out on the chance to sign Bayern Munich fleet-footed Brazilian winger Douglas Costa this summer to Juventus.

The winger has been on Barcelona’s radar but it seems the Serie A Champions Juventus is winning the race at the moment.

Juventus has put forward a sum of a €30 million bid for the player and a €7 million per year on wages.

The only stumbling block to the deal is the asking price, which Bayern is not set to reduce, Bayern Munich has slapped a sum of €50 million transfer fee on the Brazilian.

Bayern Munich signed Costa from Shakhtar Donetsk, where he won five consecutive Ukrainian League andthree Ukrainian Cups as the club dominated the domestic scene.

His fine form and display attracted the interest of Bayern Munich and the Bavarian signed him for €30 million, he quickly become the fans favourite at the Allianz Arena with his dribbling and flair he adds on the wings and he further gained the fans adulation when he scored the winning penalty kick to win the 2015/16 DFB-Pokal against Borussia Dortmund.

Costa has been the shadow of himself under Carlo Ancelotti, he made 23 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring four goals and supplied three assists.

Despite his poor form last season he is still not short of offers from suitors especially top ranked teams in Europe.

Barcelona and Liverpool have been craving to sign the former Shakhtar wide man.

But Juventus has jumped the queue, and at the moment and the Italian giant is leading the race to sign him.

The Brazilian’s agent, according to Sky Sports Italia, was seen at the Juventus headquarters with the general director Giuseppe Marotta.

He told the Bianconeri officials about his intention of coming to Turin.

With Costa, not being a further option for both the clubs, Barcelona will be looking towards Borussia Dortmund ace Ousmane Dembele, whereas Liverpool will be desperate to seal the deal with AS Roma’s Mohamed Salah.

Douglas Costa is a talented player when given the necessary time to settle down.

His move to Italy could be a good move for the fleet-foot attacker.
