Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte believes Victor Moses never attempted to deceive the referee after he was shown a red card while trying to gain a penalty for the team.
The Blues lost 2-1 to Arsenal in Saturday’s FA Cup final at the Wembley Stadium to win their 13th trophy thanks to Alexis Sanchez and Aeron Ramsey’s goal.
Moses was sent off in the second half while trying to fool the referee, which resulted to his second yellow card and red card in the process.
However, Conte insists the former Wigan star was tired and not an intentional attitude to cheat the referee in order to win Chelsea a penalty.
“I don’t know for sure but there is a lot of attention in this moment,” Conte said.
“Sometimes I think it could be tiredness and I don’t think – and I repeat – if my player dived he did it with the real intention to do this. We are at the end of the season and a lot of players are tired and then there is a lot of pressure.
“For sure it is not a good situation to dive, it is true. But I repeat Moses is an honest player and if there was this situation he was tired and he didn’t want to cheat the referee.
