Absence Of Key Players Haven’t Affected Super Eagles Performance – Pascal

By Augustine Akhilomen

Super Eagles Team coordinator, Patrick Pascal has revealed that the team that absence of some key players in the team is a blessing in disguise for the technical crew.

Having played a 1-1 draw with the Corsica team last week Friday in an international friendly match without some of the established stars such as Mikel Obi, Carl Ikeme, Leon Balogun, Victor Moses and a few to mention.

However, Pascal told Soccernet.com.ng from their camp base in Paris, France that their absence won’t affect the performance of the team but have afforded the technical crew the opportunity to assess some of the new players in the team.

“The absence of some of the big boys in the Super Eagles squad in Paris may have come as a welcome development for the technical crew considering the fact that it has giving them the chance to discover a few players that could fit in into their plan ahead of the 2019 AFON qualifier against South Africa and 2018 World Cup qualifier against Cameroon on August 28,” Pascal told Soccernet.com.ng.

“I believe the team’s performance against Corsica was very impressive and I expect a more improved game when we face the Hawks of Togo on June 1st. The players on ground have shown that hunger and determination to impress the Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr.

” This is exactly what we have been looking for in the team where we will have options for different positions in the team should any player pulls out due to injury or card offences.”
