Sunderland’s Anichebe On The Brink Of Return From Injury

By Augustine Akhilomen

Forgotten Super Eagles forward, Victor Anichebe could return to face Burnley if he recovers quickly from injury.

The Nigerian striker who has formed a formidable strike partnership with Jermain Defoe, has been a big miss for the Black Cats after picking up a knee ligament injury. He provided crucial support for Jermain Defoe up front, but the Black Cats have struggled for goals in his absence.

Anichebe films while working on an exercise bike in the US city of Philadelphia. He has previously spent time in the States to maintain his fitness, and showcased a series of pictures of famous landmarks of the American city.

While his arrival at the end of the transfer window may have underwhelmed Sunderland fans, his contributions on the pitch saw them beat Bournemouth, Hull, Leicester and Watford.

David Moyes spoke this week of his hope that Anichebe, Lee Cattermole and Jan Kirchhoff will be back to play a part in the crucial fixtures in April, and the former Everton striker posted a video on his Instagram page of him in the gym, working on his fitness.
