Ndidi Will Surpass Kante – Nwosu

By Augustine Akhilomen

Ex international, Henry Nwosu believes the presence of Wilfred Ndidi at Leicester City will help erase the memory of ‘workaholic’ midfielder, N’Golo Kante in the team.

The former Genk midfielder joined the Foxes during the winter transfer window and has become an integral part of the team. Having scored one goal for the team this on-going season, Ndidi’s impressive form has seen him earn rave reviews from the English press, most especially in their successful qualification to the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League after they defeated Sevilla 2-0 in the second leg on Tuesday.

After the departure of N’Golo Kante to Chelsea last summer, the Foxes have struggled to get a replacement for the French player as results have not really been in their favour this season in the Premier League.

Nwosu, who was part of the victorious Green Eagles that won the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations in Lagos, told Soccernet.com.ng that Ndidi’s brilliant form in the colours of Leicester City would surpass Kante’s feat.

“I am really impressed with the performances of Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi with his new club Leicester City. In fact, he got me marveled with his brilliant showing against Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League. He marshaled the midfield with great intelligence and made some timely tackles which prevented the Sevilla attackers from making any serious incursion,” Nwosu told Soccernet.com.ng.

“The player who last made Leicester City so thick in the midfield was N’Golo Kante and you could attest to it that his absence was well felt in the team. There was no doubt that he was the architect of their unprecedented Premier League winning feat last season.

“Without mincing words, I definitely believe that if Ndidi can remain focus with his game, he will surpass and erase the memories of Kante from Leicester City. The truth is, you can’t compare the quality of both players because they play so differently,” he said.
