London Friendlies: Green Believes Senegal, Burkina Faso Good To Create Bond Amongst Players

By Augustine Akhilomen

Chairman Technical Committee, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Barrister Christopher Green says it’s important for the Super Eagles to play the forthcoming international friendly match against Senegal and Burkina Faso, in a bid to create cohesion and understanding amongst the players.

The three-time Africa champions will face the Taranga Lions of Senegal and the Stallions of Burkina Faso in London on March 23rd and 27th as part of preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Green pointed out that the international friendly encounter will give the Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr the opportunity to discover new players.

“We needed to play these matches to prepare our team for Nations Cup and the World Cup qualifiers. You will recall that the team has not regrouped since after we played against Algeria. Our coach is still new and he has to instill his philosophy to the group,” Green said.

“We have to fashion cohesion and understanding amongst the players. He has to assess new players that are doing well currently for possible replacement for those that are lacking in form and fitness,” he said.
