Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has stated that beating Cameroon and Zambia in Uyo remains his topmost priority if Nigeria must qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The three-time African champions lead group B of the World Cup campaign having defeated Zambia 2-1 in Lusaka before thrashing Algeria 3-1 in Uyo to earn six point while the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, who are the current African champs are on two points after two draws draws.
Both teams will square up against each other on a double header clash on August 28 before the reverse fixture, in an encounter that could determine the fate of their World Cup dreams.
However, Rohr told FIFA.com that the Super Eagles must overcome Cameroon and Zambia if the team must win the sole ticket for the World Cup.
“Winning our first two matches was a great start, but we will not play again until the end of August and early September, when we face Cameroon,” said Rohr.
“They of course are African champions and will be highly motivated to take the form from Gabon into the World Cup qualifiers.
“I do not get carried away. It is a very tough group and nothing has been decided. But I admit
that, at the moment, we have a small advantage and if we win our two matches at home against Cameroon and Zambia, we will qualify.”
