Tottenham comeback to draw Man City at Etihad

Manchester City forfeited a two-goal lead by Tottenham in a 2-2 thrilling encounter at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Leroy Sane and Kevin De Bruyne gave the Blues a 2-0 advantage but Spurs rallied to claim a valuable point and leave City wondering about what might and perhaps should have been.

Pep Guardiola will have no complaints about his team’s response to last week’s loss at Everton, however, as his team turned in a fine display. Guardiola expected Manchester City to get a penalty in the 76th when Raheem Sterling had his shirt tugged by Kyle Walker.

Referee Andre Marriner ignored it and 67 seconds later, Tottenham Hotspur had scored their second goal through Son Heung-Min to complete a stunning comeback.

Two appalling errors from goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had given City unexpected presents but all Tottenham needed were two shots on target in 90 minutes to blow a hole in City’s ambitions.

It was a sorry end to what should have been a significant day for City, but ended in disappointment for the Manchester club in the end.
