FIFA Ranking: Super Eagles rise to 50th position

Nigeria’s Super Eagles moved up one place into the top 50 in the latest January FIFA ranking released on Thursday.

They moved from 51st to 50th in the latest rankings in addition to being 7th in the African rankings, which is still led by Senegal, who are ranked 33rd in the world. Cote d’Ivoire maintained second position in Africa and 34th position in the world.

Egypt took over from Tunisia as they are ranked third best team on the continent. Tunisia also dropped to fourth position and 36th in the world according to the latest ranking.

In the same vein, Nigeria’s World Cup rivals Algeria are 39th in the world and 5th in Africa, Cameroon are 62nd in the world and 12th in Africa while Zambia are 88th in the world and 21st in Africa.

‎Argentina still maintained its number one position in the world ranking, followed by South America rival, Brazil in second position. Germany, Chile andBelgium occupy third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.
