The Super Falcons have been boosted with the sum of N1m donated to them by Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, reports AfricanFootball.com.
The Falcons have been protesting their unpaid entitlements from winning the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON), and even staged a street protest to the National Assembly on Wednesday.
However, Onazi has now shown concern to the players’ plight by donating the sum of one million naira to the team.
“Onazi is a fantastic man and supported the Falcons with the sum of one million Naira, which really helped the ladies,” AfricanFootball.com quoted a source.
“He also gave one of the injured players 200,000 Naira for her treatment.
“He is a wonderful guy. I was aware some of the girls called him to complain about their plight and he helped them.”
Several former Nigeria stars including Garba Lawal, Joseph Yobo and Nwankwo Kanu have equally spoken against the shabby treatment the Falcons have been subjected to since they won a record eighth women’s AFCON in Cameroon.
