Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has revealed that captain of the Nigeria national team, John Obi Mikel is in advanced talks with French club Olympique de Marseille on a possible free transfer move from Chelsea.
Mikel has been linked with a move away from the Blues having played no game under manager Antonio Conte and with The Blues on an 11-match winning streak in the Premier League, chances have been few and far between.
Mikel sees Marseille as “a serious option” and will be “allowed to leave for free by Chelsea”, according to the Nigerian boss, Rohr when speaking to Europe 1.
“I saw him in London. He is in advanced discussions with Marseille,” the Franco-German revealed.
Mikel has been at Chelsea for 10 years and has won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League and Europa League in a trophy-laden spell at Stamford Bridge.
