CAF Beach Soccer: Nigeria tackles Morocco in semifinal clash

The Super Sand Eagles will be battling Morocco today for a slot at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup coming in Bahamas next year.

The pairing is one of the semifinal matches slated at the ongoing CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations holding at the Eko Atlantic Beach, Lagos.
Other fixtures include the game between Libya and Cote d’Ivoire, Madagascar versus Ghana, while Senegal will take on Egypt.
Eagles triumphed in two of their matches having lost to Cote d’Ivoire in the group stage. The Sand Eagles beat Ghana 4-3 on Thursday night to set up today’s clash against the Moroccans.
Morocco, however, started with a loss in the opening day of the competition against Senegal, but have sinceturn the tide beating the defending champions Madagascar on their way to the semifinal stage.
Speaking on today’s match day tagged: ‘The Lagos Day’ the Lagos Commissioner for Information, Steve Ayorinde, said all was set to showcase the tourism potential of the Centre of Excellence at the beach football fiesta.
“This event is a combination of many things. We are also bringing in entertainment just for people to relax since we are already in the Yuletide period. Lagos is noted for excellence in many areas and that will be reflected at the Eko Atlantic on Saturday (today),” Ayorinde said.
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is however expected to also be part of the programme today at the beach.
