Former Nigeria youth international Chinedu Obasi has won the Goal of the Season Award in Sweden for 2016.
The AIK forward is experiencing a new lease of life after overcoming a length spell on the sidelines due to injury and poor form. He has scored six league goals in 10 appearances this season to confirm his return to form.
A jury of 16 head coaches and captains, as well as 32 selected journalists and experts picked his goal against IFK Norrköping FK on 2 October, 2016 as the best in the Allsvenskan.
Obasi’s teammate Alexander Isaac was named Fan Favourite Newcomer of the Year following in the footsteps of AIK stars like Daniel Tjernström (2012), Per Karlsson (2013), Kenny Pavey (2014) and Nils-Eric Johansson (2015).
Rikard Norling won Coach of the year and Patrik Carlgren was named best goalkeeper.
AIK are currently second on the Allsvenskan log with 60 points, five behind league leaders Malmo FF after 30 matches.
