Nigerian youngster gets United States call-up

Talented FC Dordrecht forward Lateef Omidiji Jr. has been called up to join the United States of America’s Under-14 side in California.

The 12-year-old who has been at the centre of a tug-of-war between Holand and the United States would be hoping to seal a place in the squad following his exploits at the Under-14 team of his Netherlands second division side.

Meanwhile, the prodigy has confirmed his desire to represent the American by celebrating his invitation via Instagram.

“Happy to say that I’ll be joining the U.S U14 national team,” Omidiji Jr. wrote.

“Proud to see that hard work pays off. Will give it my all like I always do.”
