Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has talked about the possibility of leaving Chelsea in January if his current situation doesn’t improve at Stamford Bridge.
The 29-year-old has not played any game for Antonio Conte’s men this season as the Italian prefers the services of former Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic in the central midfield.
Mikel whose contract expires at the end of the season says he will consider his options if the current situation doesn’t improve.
“We will wait and see what happens in January,” he said, as quoted by ESPN FC.
“For the first time in my career, this is happening to me and I have to stand up and deal with it.
“It is what it is but I’m training hard every day and I always wish the team the best and I am happy we are doing well.
“I’ve been at Chelsea a long time. Managers come and go, players come andgo. I’ve been at Chelsea a long time and these things happen in football. So we will have to make that decision when January comes.”
Mikel moved to Chelsea in 2006 from Norwegian side Lyn Oslo after beating Manchester United to his services.
