Gold Cup Preseason: Enyimba and Lobi draw, MFM pounds Sunshine

The much anticipated Gold cup tournament finally kicked off in Ijebu Ode,

Enyimba International FC played out an entertaining goalless draw against Lobi stars of Makurdi.

New coach of Enyimba, Gbenga Ogunbote fielded a mix of his new acquisitions and the tested players retained after a huge exodus of stars at Enyimba.

New signings Ibrahim Salawu and Eric Frimpong caught the eyes with some delightful football play.

Lobi goalkeeper Emmanuel Anibo made vital saves early in the match to stop both Salawu and Christian Obiozor from handing Enyimba the lead.

At the other end, Anthony Opkotu almost put Lobi ahead in the 36th minute but poor composure ensured he misplaced his shot.

Ogunbote seeing the game running to a stalemate then brought on Andrew Abalogu , Dare Ojo and Olufemi Oladapo to add some bite to their play.

But coach Godwin Uwa and his Lobi stars players still managed to see out the game without conceding, thereby earning a point.

MFM FC took on Sunshine stars in a game that saw a flurry of second half goals as the Lagos based side hit Sunshine 3-0 .

Gabriel Onaah opened scoring in the 62nd minute, while substitutes Isah Akor and Alashe Sherif added two more goals for the Olukoya Boys.

In the opening match of the tournament, Niger tornadoes were shocked by Nigerian nationwide league side FC Ebedie 1-0.
