2018 World Cup Qualifier: Algeria Will Fall in Uyo – Pascal

Ex international, Patrick Pascal has reiterated that the Super Eagles would outshine the Desert Foxes of Algeria in today’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Nigeria are top of group B with three points after winning their opening match 2-1 against Zambia in Ndola a fortnight ago, while Algeria and Cameroon played a 1-1 draw to remain one point apiece.

A win for the three-time Africa champions against Algeria would further extend their lead on the log before facing the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on August 2017.

However, Pascal told Soccernet.com.ng via a telephone conversation that the team would pick maximum point against the Desert Foxes in Uyo.

“I am not worried about Algeria and their antics because I believe Nigeria will beat them silly in Uyo. There is no doubt that they have quality players such Riyad Mehrez and Islam Slimani, who could win games at any given point in time, however, I must also let you know that the caliber of players in the team gives me great confidence that they will fall in Uyo,” Pascal told Soccernet.com.ng.

“The technical crew under Genort Rohr has done a very good job in the team considering the fact that we now have a blend of youth and experience in the team that could give any opponent a run for their money as far as Africa football is concern.

“I am always delighted that we have players such as Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, Victor Moses, Isaac Success and Mikel Obi in the Super Eagles squad. Watching them in the Premier League in England gives me joy and I know that they will help the team qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia,” he said.
