2018 World Cup Qualifier: Iheanacho Wary of Zambia Threat

Super
Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho says the team should expect a very difficult
test against the Chipolopolo of Zambia ahead of Sunday’s 2018 FIFA World Cup
qualifier in Ndola.
Iheanacho
scored a brilliant volley against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in the team’s 1-0
win a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last month (September) and he’s
expected to lead Nigeria’s attack on Sunday.
The
former Golden Eaglets star who has been in a superb form for Manchester City in
the Premier League insisted that the team has the right players that could
conquer Zambia in Ndola.
“It’s
an away game for us and is going to be a difficult one. We have great players
that will make the difference against Zambia. We have to overcome Zambia first
before we can talk about Cameroon and Algeria. However, it’s not going to be
easy and nobody knows what’s going to happen. We will keep fighting as a team
to get to the World Cup.,” Iheanacho told cafonline.
“To
play in the FIFA World Cup will be a dream come true for me and is going to
help my career as a player too.
Iheanacho
revealed that he’s still unhappy that the team failed to qualify for the 2017
AFCON tournament and believed that it would serve as lesson for the players
ahead of their World Cup clash against Zambia.
“It’s
unfortunate we missed out on the 2017 AFCON but we are not out of everything.
We have all put that behind us and our focus is on the next games. We have to
take that as a lesson and come back stronger to qualify for the World Cup. I
will also work hard for my country as an individual; and we are going to put in
all hard work collectively as a team.”
