Former Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu has said that he’s excited with the calibre of players invited to the team, insisting that the Chipolopolo of Zambia would have no hiding place in Lusaka.
On Thursday, team’s coach Genort Rohr named a formidable squad to tackle Zambia in a 2018 World Cup qualifier game on October 9, with the regular players such as Mikel Obi, Ahmed Musa, Ogenyi Onazi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Carl Ikeme, Victor Moses, William Trust-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Alex Iwobi and Elderson Echiejile in the squad.
Nigeria will be hoping to begin their campaign on a winning note in a bid to have a strong hold of the group which also has Algeria and Cameroon in it.
Shorunmu, a top notch goalkeeper in his playing days told Soccernet.com.ng that the current blend of players in the Super Eagles squad have all it takes to get maximum points in Lusaka.
“I am realy impressed with Genort Rohr’s Super Eagles list for the Zambia clash. Atleast there is an element of consistency in terms of the players he first invited against Tanzania,” Shorunmu told Soccernet.com.ng.
“I have this believe that this team is good enough to rattle Zambia in Lusaka, meaning Nigeria can smile home with the maximum points because I don’t see them escaping defeat.
“There is no denial that the game won’t be easy for Nigeria, however, I am optimistic the team won’t disappoint us,” he said.
