Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated home team, Akwa United FC 3-0 in a
friendly game on Wednesday inside the Godswill Akpabio International
Stadium in Uyo, but the floodlights stopped proceedings at the stadium
20 minutes to end the match.
Olympiacos FC striker Brown Ideye and Maccabi Tel Aviv midfielder,
Nosa Igiebor scored in the first half, before second half substitute
Odion Ighalo made it 3-0 from the penalty spot for the new look Super
Eagles team in Uyo.
The team’s starting line-up has Ikechukwu Ezenwa in goal, while the
likes of Shehu Abdulahi, Elderson Echiejile, new invitee Chinedu Awaziem
and Jamiu Alimi in the defence line. Musa Muhammed, Nosa Igiebor and
Wilfred Ndidi played in the midfield, Al Arabi forward, Imoh Ezekiel,
Brown Ideye, and Victor Osimhen featured in the attack.
Other players like, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Mikel Obi,
Victor Moses, Ogenyi Onazi and Ighalo were all second half substitute in
the game. On the other hand, the team was reduced to 10-men when
Echiejile received the got a red-card for receiving two yellow cards in
the course of the match.
Meanwhile, no bonus for the team and officials irrespective of the
outcome of Saturday’s match against the Taifas Stars of Tanzania, as the
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appeals by telling them to show more
understanding.
