Nigerian Youngster Joins MVV Maastricht From Arsenal On Loan

Nigerian sensation, Kelechi Nwakali has joined Dutch second division
side MVV Maastricht on loan from Arsenal, the club announced on
Wednesday.

The 18-year-old midfielder who is on contract with the English
Premier League club till June 2021 joined the North London side from
Diamond Football Academy in Nigeria at the start of the transfer.

After Stefan O’Connor, Nwakali is the second player from Arsenal to
join Maastricht on loan attracts up to the end of the current season.
MVV Maastricht will complete the deal after the attacking midfielder
secure his work permit to feature for the club in the current season.

Speaking on Nwakali’s potential after joining the team; club’s head
coach Ron Elsen said, “Kelechi is a multifunctional attacking midfielder
with scoring ability and a nose for the ‘final pass. Following his
transfer he joined Arsenal U-23 team, and he is a promising player. He
is a promising player for the future; after his loan spell there is
every possibility for him to develop by making the Arsenal senior team.

“This is possible by making more playing time in a competition where
it really matters. He was awarded the Golden Ball after leading his
country to win the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile last year. No doubt the
Jupiler League will witness the ‘Golden Bull’, that’s what he needs to
focus on. At MVV Maastricht he will have to show what he does and why he
is included in Arsenal training.”
