2018 World Cup: NFF Lure Multinational Company to Sponsor Eagles Preparation

In a bid to ensure that Nigeria qualify for the 2018 World Cup, a top member of the Nigeria Football Federation has disclosed to Soccernet.com.ng that they are hoping to partner with a multinational company that would help in financing Super Eagles’ World Cup preparation against the Chipolopolo of Zambia.

Yet to pay the players match bonuses for the game against Tanzania on Saturday, the Glass House appears to be feeling the heat of the Country’s economic recession.

With just four weeks to the team’s first match against Zambia in Lusaka on October 9, the NFF source who asked to remain anonymous revealed that the state of the nation’s economy could prompt them to lure a multinational company to help them financially.

“It hasn’t been easy for the Nigeria Football Federation to bear some of the expenses of the national football teams because financial things are tough. You could testify to this going by the economy recession biting the country really hard and the failure of the NFF to pay the Super Eagles players their match bonuses after the Tanzania’s match,” the source told Soccernet.com.ng.

“I must confess to you that we are really working hard to ensure that we secure the assistance of a multinational organization that will help to offset some of the bills for us; in terms of preparation and payment of match bonuses for the players after Nigeria must have finished playing Zambia in Lusaka.

“The World Cup is very important to us and we don’t want to leave any stone unturned regardless of the economic situation. Nigerians won’t listen to our excuses knowing fully that the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations,” he concluded.
