2018 World Cup: Desert Foxes Send Warning to Super Eagles

By Augustine Akhilomen
While the Super Eagles were busy managing a 1-0 win over
the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier,
the Desert Foxes of Algeria walloped Lesotho 6-0 at Stade Mustapha
Tchaker to send a warning signal to Nigeria ahead of the 2018 FIFA World
Cup.
Two goals apiece from Leicester City’s midfielder, Riyad
Mahrez, El Arabi Hillel Soudani before Saphir Taïder and Ryad Boudebouz
added one goal apiece was all that they needed to send a statement of
intent not just to Nigeria but their group opponents.
Having been pitted in the same group alongside Algeria,
Cameroon and Zambia for the sole automatic ticket of the group, the
three-time African champions will face the Desert Foxes on November 7 in
Uyo in match day two after facing Zambia on October.

The North African team are the most ranked team in Africa
and appears to be playing some quality football in the past couple of
years.
